Sustainability

Set in the desert of Tucson, Gem & Jam Festival is a vibrant celebration of live music, art, and the city’s iconic annual gem show.

Green Disco partnered with the festival to launch the Eco-Band™ program, a fan-powered initiative that drives real climate action by funding global projects and local tree-planting efforts through Tucson Clean & Beautiful. The program supports the planting of low-water desert shade trees – such as Velvet Mesquite, Desert Ironwood, and Blue Palo Verde – that can grow up to 30 feet tall and thrive for over 100 years in local neighborhoods.

Over the past few years, we have had the following impacts:

• 136 MT CO2e neutralized through verified carbon offsetting projects with Pachama
• 230 shade trees planted in local heat-vulnerable neighborhoods via Tucson Clean & Beautiful, restoring tree canopy and shade to 2 entire communities<
• 1,000+ fans have contributed $20 extra to support local climate action efforts

In 2026, every Eco-Band ($25) will directly support Earthwin.org, to preserve 2.4 acres of the most biodiverse rainforest on the planet, protected by Indigenous stewards, AND also contribute to our goal of planting over 250 trees locally in Tucson with Tucson Clean & Beautiful through the Million Trees project. In return, supporters receive a 100% hemp Eco-Band to wear onsite and are qualified to receive 100 free entries to win prizes through Earthwin.org.
